Raelinda Woad of Storyteller Jewelry

The story behind Storyteller Jewelry: Back in the early 1990’s I was a storyteller, traveling around New England performing my “True stories...that haven’t quite happened yet” at coffeehouses and folk festivals. It was a lot of fun, but the pay barely covered my chocolate habit. Then I noticed that many of the musicians I performed with were selling cassette tapes of their songs to make extra money. For those of you under the age of 40, a cassette tape is a small object, about the size of an iphone, that you stick into a small machine, about the size of a single serve Keurig coffeemaker. When you turn it on, instead of coffee, you hear an actual recording that someone made. No internet connection is required!

I wanted something to sell but I wasn’t sure people would buy a storyteller cassette. So I used my jewelry skills to create a line of book-shaped pins with my stories folded inside. My storybooks were an instant hit at all my gigs. In fact, they started getting more press than me. So I rolled with what the universe was giving me, and Storyteller Jewelry was born.

Flying Rabbit Storybook Pin

The cover of this magical little book pin features a rabbit flying over the moon. Open the book, and there is an original story inside for you to read and enjoy. The story is called Egg Moon. It's a dreamy journey through the depths of sleep, where inner change happens. I first performed it at StoryLab in Harvard Square. The audience enjoyed it, and I hope you will too.
